At the camp of Harold Melvin's Blue Notes, we will strive to keep Harold's dream alive, and we'll keep moving towards the top of the mountain as Harold would have wanted us
to. We presently have: Donnell Gillispie: a native of Philadelphia, Donnell has been singing with Harold Melvin since 1990. Harold took Donnell into his
school of teaching in the early '90s. Harold was in the studio with Donnell recording some vocals just before he took sick. He has come a long way since the early days, and his dream is to keep Harold's
dream alive. Rufus Thorne: a native of Philadelphia. "Fuss," as he is called, has been a part of Harold's camp since 1980. Rufus came to the Blue Notes as a
first tenor, and is one of the best. Rufus recorded two Blue Notes classics, My Hero and If You Love Me. Harold loved the showmanship Rufus had on stage and in the studio. To be
back in this camp is a dream for Rufus. Dwight Johnson: Dwight was born and raised in Washington, D.C. "Blackie," as he is known, has been a member of
Harold's camp since 1976. When Harold rebuilt the Blue Notes, Blackie had the sound Harold could build on. As his right hand, Blackie loved Harold. Recording five albums with the Blue Notes, he has a
sound that you will always remember: sweet and soulful. Tony Brooks: From Washington, D.C., Tony has been around Harold's camp for many years. He was part
of a young group Harold managed known as the Wonders. Now it's time for Tony to become a part of this dream. Tony has been a Blue Note about six months, and his sound will be here for a long time. |
